How to fix Sonos Roam not charging?

Sonos Roam won’t charge; it’s really a frustrating thing. So, without wasting more time, let’s remove this frustration by getting your Sonos Roam to charge again. Here are some easy steps:

1. Factory Reset

If there is any software issue or you have changed some settings that are stopping your Sonos Roam from charging a factory reset will help.

After you have done the factory reset, all saved settings will reset to their default values. This can help resolve any issues caused by incorrect settings. If you don’t know about resetting your Sonos Roam, read our guide on how to reset Sonos speakers.

2. Clear Charging Port

Another possible reason your Sonos Roam is not charging is that dust is present in the charging port of the Sonos Roam. Check the port, and if there is any dust, remove it carefully without damaging the port.

After removing the dirt from your Sonos Roam, connect the charger to the charging port and see if your speaker is charging. If the charging stopped due to the dirt in the charging port, it’ll start charging now.

But if your Sonos Roam is still not charging, move to the next step.

3. Replace Charger

If you’re using an incompatible charger, replace it with a compatible one to charge your Sonos Roam. A 5V/1.5A or 2.1A adapter is recommended for Sonos Roam to charge it properly. If you have a compatible speaker, then check if it is defective.

Try charging your Sonos Roam with a new charger. If your Sonos Roam is charging with another charger, it’s time to replace your current charger with a new one.

4. Replace Sonos Roam Battery

Sonos Roam battery doesn’t get defective easily, but if you’re overcharging your Sonos Roam repeatedly or getting it in direct sunlight, it creates problems and damages the battery.

5. Replace the Circuit Board

Sonos Roan comes with an IP67 waterproof body, but it’s still possible that some water got inside it and damaged the internal circuit. If you remember any connection of your Sonos Roam to water, it’s time to get some help from Sonos support.

If you’re a technical expert, you can replace the internal circuit board at home, but I recommend contacting Sonos Support.

6. Charging Indicator not Working

Check the charging indicator of your Sonos Roam. Sometimes, the LED (charging indicator) is fused or not working as expected, and we think the speaker is not charging. Your Sonos Roam may be charging, but the charging indicator is not working.

Try connecting the charger and let it connect for one hour. After 1-2 hours, unplug the speaker. If your Sonos Roam is charged, your charging indicator is not working. However, this issue seems only in some rare cases.

After following the steps above, your Sonos Roam will start charging, but it can be an internal technical fault if it is still not charging. You have to contact Sonos support to get this done. If your product is under warranty, contact Sonos support, describe your issue, and request a replacement.
